SENIOR RESIDENT MONKS

Sri Lanka Buddhist Monastery (Brisbane) Incorporated, established in 1990 is the largest Sri Lankan Theravada Buddhist temple in Queensland. Due to the expansion of its religious, cultural, social and welfare activities, the monastery is now seeking to appoint two permanent Senior Resident Monks to assist the Chief Incumbent in the day-to-day operations and help with the organization of daily sermons, Dhamma School, Sutta discussions, meditation retreats and school visits encouraging multiculturism. Since the Chief Incumbent is also responsible for the international operations of the sister monasteries in Sri Lanka, USA and Canada, it would be the responsibility of the appointees to oversee the local operations while the Chief Incumbent is overseas. Duly ordained and skilled monks of the highest calibre with at least 10 years of post-ordination experience, preferably with a BA Honours degree in Buddhist Studies, should apply for these positions. An in-depth knowledge of Buddhist Philosophy and Ethics would be desirable. Candidates have to be fluent in English and Sinhala languages as well as the canonical Buddhist languages Pali and Sanskrit.

Applications should be forwarded to The President and Chief Incumbent, Sri Lanka Buddhist Monastery, 114 Considine Street, Ellen Grove, Queensland 4078 by Friday, 24 June 2005.
